The Junkyard of Virtual Worlds

This area of IISland is intended both as an extensive museum of virtual worlds, and as part of a meeting space for scientific panels, workshops, and collaborations related to virtual worlds.  It is divided into sections:

1. Blood Elf Temple: Atop a small hill, this building was purchased (for less than two dollars!) in Second Life from an area that was dedicated to World of Warcraft, and it is being outfitted with information resources, as a small meeting room for groups of two to six people.

2. The Claustrium: This enigmatic, floating black cube contains nine rooms, seven of which depict seven different virtual worlds: World of Warcraft, Tabula Rasa, The Matrix Online, Spore, Star Wars Galaxies, Anarchy Online, and The Past.  The eighth room depicts four worlds: Entropia, ScienceSim, There, and EVE Online.  The ninth room depicts a range of traditional virtual worlds that are not computerized.  You may enter most rooms via teleportation from the pad on the nearby shore, and clicking on walls, floors, and ceilings inside the Claustrium takes you to various locations inside and out.  The ninth room is entered by teleporting via the "2001" back monolith next to the main teleportation disk.

3. The Billboard Forest: Flat panels depict the culture from which virtual worlds arise, and many of the panels link to websites providing more information.  The forest is divided into several groves: Movies, Novels, Anarchy Advertisements, and more to come.
